Resilience - How to "re-write" a negative situation
Okay… something bad has happened…
How do you focus on the details that give you energy and motivation to be RESILIENT?

Reflect on the event: (you can get a friend or teacher to help you)
1) What is causing you stress / worry / anger?
Example – No one likes me.
2) Why does it stress / worry / anger you?
Example – No one likes me… I want to have more friends or I want to be liked.

3) List the reasons (facts not emotions) that support your stress story.
Example – When I sit with a group they get up and move – They tell me that they don’t like me.
4) Realize how long and where this negative event effects you.
Example – This event only happens at lunch.
5) Brainstorm ways that you can make sure that this negative event does not affect every part of your day. What is your NEXT BEST?
Example – This event happens at lunch, how can you make sure that you don't carry this negative feeling into recess and the rest of your school day?
6) Do you have resources that can help you if this event happens again?
Example – Do you have other friends that you could sit with at lunch?
Can you ask a teacher to help you to meet new friends?
